Zafgen is currently conducting a Ph1b Proof of Concept clinical trial in Melbourne, Australia, using intravenous administration of a small molecule drug compound called ZGN-433. Complete readout of this study is expected during the 4th quarter of 2010. The ZGN-433 program is also undergoing reformulation for subcutaneous delivery and projected to enter clinical testing in 2011 with this improved administration route. Simultaneously to the subcutaneous program, Zafgen is developing a series of novel small molecule drug candidates, expected to result in our second generation orally dosed drugs. These drug development efforts are supported by a number of collaborations with leading academic institutions and contract research organizations with the aim to further elucidate and support our understanding of the molecular mechanism behind the Zafgen anti-obesity programs.
